GAMBIA: Zineb Yahya Jammeh, First Lady Of The Islamic Republic Of The Gambia

First Lady Zineb Jammeh, the wife of the President of the Republic of The Gambia was born in Rabat, Morocco on the 5th October 1977 to Ambassador Soumah, a well respected career diplomat from the distinguished Guinean Soumah family and Mrs. Soumah who hails from Morocco.

First Lady Zineb was married to the Gambian President, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh in December 1998 and the marriage is currently blessed with a beautiful daughter, Mariam and son Muhammed Jammeh.

First Lady Zineb who holds a Diploma in International Systems and Management is currently involved in an extremely busy career as the Gambia’s beloved First Lady.

First Lady Zineb’s Special Duties include the running of the Foundation For Women Socio-Economic Advancement (FOWSEA) – A Subsidiary of The Jammeh Foundation for Peace as the President of this laudable charity.

First Lady Zineb is also the Chief Patron of several worthy charities which include but are not limited to, the Gambian Chapter of the Forum for Women Educationists (FAWEGAM) and Operation Save-The-Children, a charity devoted to providing assistance and the welfare of Gambian children.

First Lady Zineb is also involved in the provision of medical assistance to Hospitals and Community Centres (Medications and much needed medical equipment such as Incubators, etc.).

She is heavily involved in raising funds to provide scholarship packages to young children and Adolescents from under-privileged backgrounds. She is also active in the promotion of Adult Literacy programmes as she is in providing agricultural and development assistance to women and youths as well as loan packages to help them establish businesses.

Internationally, First Lady Zineb, as the wife of President Jammeh who is one of Africa’s foremost Champion of Peace, is an active member of the African First Ladies Peace Mission.

Her hobbies include Reading, Horse-Riding, Music and Travelling.
