As many as 32 people sustained injuries in a collision between two buses at the intersection of Pepsi Cola towards Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Police reported.
The accident was blamed on the driver jumping the red signal.
The operations room was informed about the crash at 4:35pm on Sunday.
Police patrols and ambulance were immediately dispatched to the site, said Brigadier Khalifa Mohammad Al Khaili, director of Traffic and Patrols Department, Abu Dhabi Police.
He said 31 people suffered moderate to minor injuries, while one was seriously hurt.
The injured were taken to Khalifa Hospital and Mafraq Hospital.
All of them were discharged, except the critically injured, after being administered treatment, he added.
