Four tourists went missing in two separate incidents at Moinot Ghat in Dhaka's Dohar and Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.

At Moinot Ghat, dubbed as mini Cox's Bazar due to the waves of Padma, three students went missing around 5:00pm, said Al Masud, station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The students were taking a group selfie when they were hit by waves, he said.

The identities of the missing are yet to be known, he said. The worst is being feared.

Divers of the fire service were searching for them in the river.

In Cox’s Bazar, a teenage boy went missing in the Bay of Bengal near the Seagull point of the sea beach this morning.

Missing and presumed dead, Sudipto Dey, 18, had recently passed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations from Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad School and College at Peelkhana in Dhaka, reports our local correspondent.

Sudipto was son of Sheetol Chandra Dey, who is a resident of the capital’s Sutrapur area.

The victim went into the deep sea when he along with six friends was taking a bath around 6:00am, said Raihan Kajemi, senior assistant superintendent of Cox’s Bazar tourist police.

At one stage, he was washed away in the sea, the police official said.
